1. Information We Collect
We collect information you provide directly when you create and use your account, including: your email address (for authentication), date of birth (to verify you are 16 or older), display name (your public identity on the platform), preferred retailers (to personalise your feed), and profile photo (optional). We also automatically collect usage data such as pages visited, actions taken, voucher sharing and claiming activity, and your community tier status. When you change your cookie preferences, we store a hashed (non-reversible) version of your IP address in an audit log for regulatory compliance — we do not store raw IP addresses.
2. How We Use Your Information
We use your information to provide and improve VoucherVillage, personalise your experience, and communicate with you about your account. We may also use aggregated data for analytics and platform improvements.
3. Data Sharing & Disclosure
We do not sell your personal data. We may share information with service providers who assist in operating the platform, or when required by law. Any third-party providers are bound by data protection obligations. We use PostHog, a product analytics service, to understand how users interact with the platform. PostHog processes data within the European Union (EU data residency) and receives only anonymised usage data — no personally identifiable information such as email addresses or names is shared. When you upload a voucher image for sharing, the image may be sent to Anthropic (our AI provider) to extract voucher details such as face value, barcode, and expiry date. Anthropic processes this data under their usage policy and does not use it to train AI models. No personally identifiable information is included in these requests — only the voucher image itself is sent. Before the image is processed, a cropping tool allows you to control exactly which portion of the image is sent — you can remove any personal or sensitive information before submission.
4. Payment Information
All payments on VoucherVillage are processed by Stripe. VoucherVillage does not store your card numbers, bank details, or other sensitive financial information. We store only a Stripe customer ID in our database for the purpose of managing your subscription. For details on how Stripe handles your payment data, please refer to Stripe's privacy policy.
5. Data Retention
We retain your personal data for as long as your account is active or as needed to provide services. When you request account deletion, your account is scheduled for permanent removal after a 30-day grace period. During this period you can cancel the deletion request. After 30 days, all personal data is permanently deleted. Anonymised, aggregated data may be retained for analytics.
6. Your Rights (GDPR)
Under GDPR, you have the right to access, rectify, erase, and port your personal data. You may also restrict or object to processing. This includes the right to request deletion of payment-related data held by VoucherVillage (such as your Stripe customer ID). Please note that Stripe may retain certain transaction records as required by law for tax compliance and fraud prevention purposes. 7. Cookies & Tracking
VoucherVillage uses three categories of cookies:
Essential cookies are required for the site to function correctly. These include session cookies, authentication tokens, and consent preferences. They cannot be disabled.
Analytics cookies help us understand how people use VoucherVillage. We use PostHog for anonymised usage analytics, which processes data within the European Union. Analytics cookies are off by default and only activated with your explicit consent.
Advertising cookies are used to show relevant ads via Google AdSense and measure their performance. These are also off by default and only activated with your explicit consent.
Additionally, Stripe may set cookies for fraud detection and payment security when you interact with checkout or subscription management pages.
You can manage your cookie preferences at any time via the "Cookie Preferences" link in the footer or in your profile settings. Changing or revoking consent is as easy as giving it — no dark patterns, no buried menus.
8. Children's Privacy
VoucherVillage is not directed at children under 16. We do not knowingly collect personal data from children. If we become aware that a child has provided us with personal data, we will take steps to delete it promptly.
9. Security
We implement appropriate technical and organisational measures to protect your personal data against unauthorised access, alteration, or destruction. These include:
Encryption in transit — all connections to VoucherVillage are encrypted via HTTPS/TLS.
Encryption at rest — our database is encrypted at rest. Sensitive voucher data such as barcodes is additionally encrypted with application-level encryption before storage.
Authentication — user authentication is managed via Auth.js. Passwords are never stored in plaintext.
Payment security — all payment data is handled entirely by Stripe, which is PCI-compliant. VoucherVillage never stores your card numbers or bank details.
EU data residency — our database is hosted in the European Union.

10. Push Notifications
When you enable push notifications, we collect your browser’s push subscription endpoint and user agent string. This data is used solely to deliver notifications about voucher activity (new vouchers, request fulfilments, expiring claims). You can disable notifications at any time from your Profile settings or your browser’s notification settings.
11. Local Storage
We use your browser’s local storage to save non-sensitive preferences such as prompt dismissal states and feature flags. No personal data is stored locally. Clearing your browser data will remove these items.
12. Service Worker
VoucherVillage uses a service worker to deliver push notifications and display notification badges on your app icon. The service worker does not cache pages, track your browsing activity, or collect any additional data.
13. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy periodically. Material changes will be communicated via the platform. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page indicates when the policy was last revised.
